A Bendigo business has been fined for breaching the chief health officer's COVID-19 guidelines.
The Advertiser understands Victoria Police attended Cf Chinese Relax Massage in Bendigo about 1pm last Saturday.
Officers found the business to be operating with customers and staff scattered throughout the premises.
Massage parlours were not permitted to trade in any capacity since Premier Daniel Andrews announced COVID-19 restrictions in March.
Cf Chinese Relax Massage's Facebook page describes the business as having a "qualified and professional massage therapist trained in Chinese massage to help create a healthy body."
An on-the-spot fine of $9913 was issued to Cf Chinese Relax Massage and one individual was fined $1652 for failing to comply with the CHO's directions.
No arrests were made and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Last Sunday, Mr Andrews said massage parlours can open with up to 20 patrons from this Sunday at 11.59pm.
The four square metre distancing rule will apply to the publicly accessible parts of these venues.
A distance of 1.5 metres should also be maintained between customers, according to the Premier.
Victoria Police's Operation Sentinel has been tasked with enforcing the CHO's COVID-19 guidelines.
Since March 21, Victoria Police has conducted 53,370 spot checks at Victorian homes, businesses and non-essential services.
The most recent update, issued on Monday, reveals Victoria Police issued 17 fines from 11pm on Thursday, May 21 until 11pm on Sunday, May 24.
Beauty therapy, tanning, waxing, nail salons, spas, tattoo parlours and massage parlours will be permitted to operate from Sunday, May 31 at 11.59pm.
