Springwood Netball Club players started training last week in anticipation of the Blue Mountains competition beginning on July 18.
Club president Pat Williamson expected a decision on whether there would definitely be a local competition would be made on July 1.
The season would be shorter - 10 weeks instead of 16 - but players at Springwood Netball Club are happy.
"We put it to every one of our teams. Everyone is keen to play," Mr Williamson said.
"It should work out well provided it doesn't rain on us every Saturday."
Players were excited to be back together training at Lomatia Park and Summerhayes Park, and there was lots of catching up on news as well as hitting the court for netball drills.
During the shutdown, netballers have been keeping fit doing their own training at home. They've been pushing themselves with short sprints, longer runs, making their quads burn with intense squatting, and ball work by themselves or with whichever family member they can convince to throw a netball.
It's anticipated the state titles will be held over the October long weekend, spread out across varying Sydney locations to limit the crowds.
"The girls are really looking forward to that," Mr Williamson said.
