Have you heard the buzz about town? Live music returns to Blue Mountains Theatre this month and audiences are ready and raring to attend with great music, laughs and gluhwein on offer.
If you are in need of something to take the sting out of any COVID-blues, the theatre has just the ticket: a night of hilarious musical mayhem from international folk festival favourites Deta and Rob Rayner from The Beez on Friday, August 14.
How exactly did Deta and Rob Rayner come to be stuck in Katoomba during the COVID-19 lockdowns? Did they unwittingly miss the 'Last Plane Out Of Sydney'? Well, they say every cloud has a silver lining, and so it is to our great fortune to be able to present these renowned performers in Springwood.
In this special one-hour concert, Deta (accordion, vocals) and Rob (guitar, vocals) will cover Beez comedy classics including their Hawaiian version of Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse Of The Heart (eat your heart out, ukulele fans!) and their somewhat macabre take on Dolly Parton's Jolene. There'll also be some Deutsche Derring-Do with a smattering of songs from Deta and Rob's alter-egos "The Sauerkrauts", and some new material from the latest Beez album. A lucky door prize will also be awarded to the first three punters who can correctly pronounce the title of The Beez most recent song: Streichholzschchtelchenacc. Good luck with that one.
Proudly supported by Blue Mountains Theatre and Blue Mountains City Council, Love Local Live On Stage at Blue Mountains Theatre invites audiences to rekindle their love of live performances in a COVID-aware environment whilst providing support for the performing arts industry and the Springwood night-time economy.
Each hour-long concert will commence at 7.30pm. A strictly-limited number of tickets are available for each performance. Tickets are $30 for each concert.
