The cancellation of this year's Leura Garden Festival has not dented the group's continuing support of Katoomba hospital.
The latest projects completed thanks to the festival's fund-raising were a five-room outpatient clinic which has freed up space in the emergency department.
There has also been a much needed upgrade of the Allied Health Therapy Centre which provides valuable rehabilitation services for both patients and outpatients. This also included purchase of some special equipment which would not have been possible without the festival funds - an active/passive bike which can be used by those in wheelchairs and a Rejoyce Workstation which is a special computer exercise designed to assist and encourage patients with repetitive practice.
Festival president, Brooke Broughton, was at the hospital last week to unveil a plaque to mark the support and to officially open the new area.
The festival has also funded the installation of a pneumatic tube system between the emergency department and pathology to enable the much faster processing of blood tests.
