Live music, colourful stalls, delicious food and coffee have established the Glenbrook Rotary markets as the place to be on the first and third Saturdays of every month.
Large crowds pass through the grounds of the former Glenbrook Infants School from 8am to 1pm as people seek relief from the demands of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lower Blue Mountains Rotarians spare no effort in ensuring COVID rules and restrictions are observed at all times, whilst retaining a happy carnival atmosphere.
Gates are monitored and all visitors' names are registered. Stalls are carefully placed according to the master plan to avoid crowding, and Rotarian 'ambassadors' wander the grounds with friendly reminders to observe social distancing requirements.
Crowds continue to grow each month because people trust the organisation and know every care is taken.
The quality and variety of goods in stalls is excellent. From fresh fruit and vegetables, aromatic breads and pies, barbecue and exotic international food, pet food and accessories, Origami pop cards, clothing for all ages - including a variety of COVID masks, flowers, plants and even the popular Hillbilly cider range.
Of course, the ongoing Rotary Book Fair (downstairs at the southern end of the main school building) has become a major attraction on market days. Almost 1000 books were sold at 50 cents each at the last markets.
The next stagings will be Saturday, September 5, following by September 29.
