The Upper Mountains awoke to a light dusting of snow on Saturday, August 22.
'The snow arrived right on cue as predicted by the Weather Bureau, attracting hordes of tourists who clogged the highway creating traffic jams for much of the weekend.
They revelled in snowball fights, built snowmen (one with his own mask) or continued on to Oberon (when the highway opened) where there had been a significant dumping.
In the Upper Mountains there were several snow showers throughout Saturday and temperatures peaked at 2.6 degrees at Mt Boyce at 12.30pm. Wind gusts of up to 82km/h had made the temperature seem much cooler than it was, with the 'feels like temperature' just -9.4 at 2pm.
