A 26-year-old man has been charged after a high speed police pursuit in the Blue Mountains over the weekend.
About 12.30am on Saturday, November 14, police noticed a Subaru Forester travelling east on the Great Western Highway, allegedly at high speed.
Officers attempted to pull the car over, however, it failed to stop. A pursuit was initiated as the vehicle travelled along Hawkesbury Road, Springwood, before it crashed into a grass verge and trees on the side of the road. A small fire broke out under the bonnet of the vehicle, police said.
Officers assisted the 26-year-old driver and his four passengers - two females aged 16 and 24 and two males aged 16 and 22 - out of the vehicle.
The driver was charged with police pursuit, disqualified driving, exceeding speed by more than 45km/h, crossing unbroken lines, using an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, and goods in custody.
He is due to appear in Penrith Local Court on Monday, November 16.
The 24-year-old woman was taken to hospital with complications from a pre-existing medical condition and the 16-year-old female was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The 22-year-old man was taken to hospital with head and leg injuries.
