If sales of a new coffee table book about the Blue Mountains are any indicator of the economic boost it is likely to give the area, local businesses are in for a boom time.
Demand for This Aint The City has been so strong almost all of the more than 50 retailers stocking it have already reordered extra copies. Megalong Books in Leura has stocked more than 100 books in under two weeks while Blue Dragon books in Glenbrook has reordered five times.
Rob Inshaw of Summit Gear in Katoomba is another retailer who has seen strong demand for the publication.
"As a local manunfacturer of outdoor goods ourselves, we like to support locally produced content," he said. "The #lostmtns Explorers Guide is an excellent reference for anyone wanting to experience the full breadth of what the Blue Mountains has to offer."
Produced by #lostmtns, a team of Blue Mountains residents who have built a strong online following promoting the area, This Aint The City shines the spotlight on experiences from bushwalking to canyoning while also promoting eateries and accommodation providers.
"We hope this guidebook gives all locals a chance to 'show off' their Blue Mountains home to their families and friends," said a #lostmtns spokesperson.
"We are so proud of what our team has been able to accomplish, especially the photography of this book, it truly showcases the Mountains.
"We truly hope this benefits the local community and businesses, and helps boost the Mountains in any way. "
