A bushwalker suffering from heat exposure was rescued from Pierces Pass in the Upper Blue Mountains on Friday, November 27.
The woman, 51, was bushwalking between Bell and Hartley via Pierces Pass when she began to feel unwell, experiencing symptoms related to heat exposure and was unable to continue.
A fellow walker was able to walk to mobile phone reception area and call emergency services for help just before 2pm. Police from Blue Mountains Rescue Squad and paramedics from NSW Ambulance Special Operations Team travelled to Bell and walked the track to the patient, which took about 45 minutes.
"When they reached the patient, she was found to be badly dehydrated. A helicopter was requested and the patient was extracted by the helicopter and taken to hospital for treatment," said Blue Mountains Police Detective Chief Inspector Scott McAlpine.
Police have reminded bushwalkers to carry and consume sufficient water during hot weather, and where possible, avoid strenuous activity during the hotter parts of the day.

No-one was home. "Entry was forced and police discovered a sophisticated indoor hydroponic installation throughout the main residence and inside a separate granny flat," said Det Chief Insp McAlpine.
The matter is still under investigation.
