A Blaxland pharmacy assistant has been named the NSW pharmacy assistant of the year.
James Brown from Blaxland Day 'n' Night Pharmacy was overjoyed to receive the award, after being nominated by his co-worker Melinda Loh.
"I never would have imagined I had made it so far into the process, I was extremely happy when I found out about making it to the finals," Mr Brown said.
"My goal throughout this process was not to only do this for me, but to make the people of the Blue Mountains know the amount of care and passion we place into our jobs for them."
After answering a questionnaire from the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Mr Brown was selected as a finalist and attended an interview.
"During the interview, examiners asked me about my motivation in pharmacy, why I like working in pharmacy and what I want to do with my pharmacy experience, as well as other questions regarding the overall state of pharmacy in the current pandemic," Mr Brown said.
"It was a very exciting and interesting interview where I got to highlight the benefits of working in pharmacy".
He was named the state winner and attended a national workshop where he met the other state finalists.
"I almost died when I received the phone call telling me I was state winner," Mr Brown said.
"Thank you to the community for being an absolute pleasure to serve, I get to do something I love because of you".
