For its second time in history the biggest little show in the west will not be going ahead in 2021.
Rydal Show's first cancellation was back in 1941 during World War II and now it's been cancelled due to a global pandemic.
The 99th show was to be held on February 5 and 6, but with the surge of COVID-19 cases over Christmas, the decision has been made to postpone.
The tiny village is 22 kilometres west of Lithgow.
Show secretary Rachael Young said initially the show was to go ahead, after a meeting in November.
"We decided we would go ahead in 2021 as the news concerning COVID looked to be improving in NSW," she said.
But with a spike in cases coming from the Northern Beaches cluster and restrictions coming back into play, the show committee had to call it quits.
"There were concerns about the health risk to our volunteers, many of whom are in the vulnerable age group as well as concerns for the health of our local community," Ms Young said.
"Given our close proximity to greater Sydney and the fact that we have many competitors and supporters from that area gave us cause for concern," she said.
"We are very disappointed we have had to cancel and let down our stall holders, ride man and competitors.
"We had hoped to be able to support these people as they have all done it tough during 2020," she said.
Ms Young said she was thankful for the loyalty of those who attend the Rydal Show as competitors, stall holders, exhibitors, patrons and volunteers each year.
"We also wish to thank all our wonderful sponsors who, despite having a horror year in 2020 all wanted to support our 2021 show. We really appreciate their ongoing support," she said.
She said the show society would spend the next 12 months planning its 2022 show.
"We are also hoping that we may be able to go ahead in November with the youth council gymkhana which was unfortunately cancelled in 2020."
