To coincide with the recent release of his new EP, Moving Through Time, former singer of INXS and Grammy nominated songwriter, Ciaran Gribbin, will be performing an intimate live show at The Baroque Room, Katoomba on Friday, January 29.
Gribbin's show will feature a solo performance of his original songs entwined with conversation. There'll be a few humorous tales about his journey in the world of rock n' roll from Northern Ireland to Australia and how he got the gig as the lead singer with one of Australia's greatest bands, INXS.
Gribbin is a Grammy-nominated songwriter and performer who has worked with top-tier artists such as Madonna, U2, Paul McCartney, Snow Patrol and Al Pacino. Gribbin received his Grammy nomination for co-writing Madonna's hit, Celebration.
In December, he released his six-track EP, which is a compilation of songs written during different periods of Gribbin's life.
The title track, Moving Through Time, was co-written in 2016 with CJ Vanston, a Los Angeles-based film composer, record producer, songwriter and keyboardist. Vanston has worked with many artists including Prince, Barbara Streisand, Ringo Starr, Celine Dion, Tina Turner, Joe Cocker and Richard Marx.
"I had the vision for the song to be based on the piano and all I had at the start of the session was the line 'The day is slowly dissolving into a pink Venice sky,'" said Gribbin.
"Anyone who has watched the sunset over Venice Beach in California will know that pink sky very well. The song is simply about taking stock of where I was at in life at that very moment on the beach. It hit me that life and time moves very quickly, things change and none of us can do anything about it."
The onset of COVID-19 on the world has been tough for everyone and for Gribbin it has meant a reduced travel schedule and the gift of time - time to focus on music he wants to make, to finish productions that have been sitting idle for years, to be creative.
The future looks extremely bright for Gribbin with a consistent release schedule planned for 2021 including singles co-written with legendary songwriters such as Andrew Farriss, Pam Sheyne and many more.
