A body believed to be that of a missing Blackheath woman found in valley

A body, believed to be that of a woman missing from Blackheath, has been located in the Blue Mountains.

The 54-year-old woman was last seen in the vicinity of Evans Lookout Road at about 6am on Monday, May 3.

She was reported missing to officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command, who had commenced inquiries into her whereabouts.

Following a land and air search of the surrounding area, a body was located in the Grose Valley near the Valley View Lookout at about 10.30am on Tuesday, May 4.

The body is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be that of the missing woman.

A recovery operation is expected to be conducted today.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
