Treasurer Josh Frydenberg unveiled the Federal Budget last night and it dominated the news cycle today.
Tens of billions in new spending was announced, with the budget forecasting a decade of deficit and debt that will peak at $1 trillion.
A noticeable absence from the budget was funding for a purpose-built COVID-19 quarantine facility.
Victoria's proposed $200 million facility at Mickleham, north of Melbourne, wasn't allocated any cash, but Mr Frydenberg said the Commonwealth was still considering the plan.
The budget did include funding to expand the Howard Springs quarantine centre.
It comes as more than 50,000 footy fans who attended the Richmond-Geelong match in Victoria on Friday have been contacted by the AFL after two trains were added to a growing list of coronavirus exposure sites.
A Victorian man in his 30s who completed 14 days quarantine in South Australia tested positive for coronavirus several days after returning to his home in Melbourne's northern suburbs.
A dozen exposure sites have been identified so far, including two train services, as the state works rapidly to trace and isolate people who may have come into contact with the man.
Shifting gears now, AFL premiership forward Willie Rioli has been placed on a good behaviour bond after pleading guilty to drug possession.
