Blue Mountains residents turned out in force in Katoomba on Saturday, June 5 to support the ongoing campaign for women's safety.
The Enough is Enough rally was attended by a range of community leaders and politicians including Blue Mountains MP Trish Doyle, Macquarie MP Susan Templeman, and Blue Mountains mayor Mark Greenhill.
Originally planned for May, COVID-19 restrictions forced the delay of the rally until June - but the postponement didn't affect the turnout in Civic Place.
"We must act together to make our community safe for all people, women and children, First Nations peoples, men. It's our responsibility to act as a community and get the backing of all levels of government," said organiser Jude Finch.
Speaking ahead of the rally, Cherie Brandon from the Blue Mountains Women's Health and Resource Centre, said: "We know well enough that the Blue Mountains is not yet safe for many people living here. We can change this."
The event was organised by local women and was supported through the Blue Mountains Women's Health and Resource Centre.
