LATEST COVID-19 DEVELOPMENTS:
- Sydney avoided being plunged into lockdown, despite NSW recording 11 more locally acquired cases. Premier Gladys Berejiklian described it as the state's "scariest period" of the pandemic.
- The number of cases linked to the Bondi cluster has grown to at least 36, with Agriculture Minister Adam Marshall one of them.
- NSW parliament house was declared a venue of concern. Workers were told to stay home while a skeleton staff of MPs underwent rapid testing to allow the state budget to be passed.
- NSW police have warned people breaking public health order rules will be fined, with increased patrols during the school holidays.
- A Melbourne man in his 60s who attended a super-spreader social event in Sydney's west tested positive after returning home.
- Victoria will make the entirety of Greater Sydney and Wollongong "red zones" under the state's permit system from 1am on Friday.
- Victoria Treasurer Tim Pallas revealed the state's economy took a $1.3 billion hit during its fourth lockdown.
- Queensland recorded three new community cases linked to a flight attendant but state health authorities say none are a risk to the wider population.

* There have been 6,999,198 doses administered in the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout up to Wednesday, including 138,922 in the previous 24 hours.
* Of the total, 4,129,403 have been administered by the Commonwealth (an increase of 72,791 in the previous 24 hours).
* 3,702,272 have been issued in primary care (+66,061) and 418,557 in aged and disability facilities (+2265).
* 2,803,664 have been administered by the states and territories, including 70,217 in the previous 24 hours.
* 968,716 have been administered in Victoria (+18,526), 729,783 in NSW (+17,976), 477,685 in Queensland (+13,985), 260,145 in Western Australia (+6007), 199,599 in South Australia (+5018), 102,788 in Tasmania (+2269), 76,198 in the ACT (+1213) and 54,881 in the NT (+1137).
AUSTRALIAN CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:
* Australia reported 22 new local cases, 18 in NSW, three in Queensland and one in Victoria. Thirteen of the NSW cases had been announced earlier. Another six NSW cases are expected to be included in Friday's figures.
* There were 10 new overseas-acquired cases in hotel quarantine: four in SA, three in Victoria, one in NSW, one in Queensland and one in WA.
* The national death toll is 910: Victoria 820, NSW 56, Tasmania 13, WA 9, Queensland 7, SA 4, ACT 3 (Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states).
