Interested in the arts? Ready to help grow and shape the creative heart of western Sydney?
Penrith Performing & Visual Arts (PP&VA) is seeking nominations from interested greater western Sydney-based community members to its board of directors and three community advisory committees (education, performing arts and visual arts committees).
As a public company limited by guarantee and a controlled entity of Penrith City Council, PP&VA is a producer, curator, presenter and a leader in industry-led arts education experiences in the region. It is looking to diversify its board and committee representation to best reflect the community they serve.
It is particularly interested in nominations from those with a passion for arts and cultural growth in this region including local business representatives, artists and creatives, representatives of The Joan and Penrith Regional Gallery's community hiring groups, those from a diverse cultural background and young people (aged between 18 and 40).
"It has been a great opportunity to serve the community through contributing to the growth and development of an exciting and unique entity," said current PP&VA board member and chair of the education committee, Cathy Jarman. "There are not many organisations that integrate visual arts, music, dance, theatre, technology and collaborative projects in the way that PP&VA does.
"On a personal level, I have learnt a lot about networking, financial planning, meeting structures, governance and council work."
All board and committee positions are volunteer. Deadline to apply or nominate is August 15. Please visit the website: ppandva.com.au/board-and-committee-nominations-open-deadline-15-august-2021/.
