Birdland 2021-2022 is the second annual exhibition of artworks depicting the resilience, beauty and diversity of Australian birdlife.
Initially installed at the Blue Mountains Heritage Centre in Blackheath in June 2021, days before lockdown, the birds remained in the dark until the centre reopened its doors in late October. The National Parks and Wildlife Service has extended the exhibition until January 29.
Curated by Miriam Williamson, Birdland exhibits works by 23 artists across a range of media. Artists include Jody Graham, Pam Vaughan and Julie Paterson. While many are from the Blue Mountains region some artists are from interstate.
The next exhibition to be held at the Centre is Underground, featuring works by artists Simon Reece, Vicky Browne, Rachel Peachey and Paul Mosig.
The Blue Mountains Heritage Centre is located at 270 Govetts Leap Road, Blackheath. Free entry. Open seven days a week from 9am-4.30pm. For more details call 4787 8877.
