The owner of a Rozelle convenience store that was destroyed by fire, and which killed a mum and baby and their neighbour, has been arrested in hospital.
Adeel Khan is expected to be charged with three counts of murder in relation to the blast and subsequent fire earlier this month, police sources say.
Bianka O'Brien, 31, her baby son Jude, 11 months, and their neighbour Chris Noble, 27, all died in the Darling Street fire.
The 44-year-old store owner was also injured in the fire, which police will allege he deliberately lit, with fire crews finding him trapped underneath a commercial fridge. He remains in hospital and will have a bedside court hearing later on Tuesday.
The early morning fire tore through the convenience store, which he had owned for only months, the neighbouring mobile phone shop and the residential units above in the early hours of September 4.
Bianka and Jude were buried in an emotional ceremony on September 17, laid to rest in a single casket in a ceremony not far from their home in Sydney's inner west.
At the funeral, Bianka's father, Bill Keremelevski, told the service he has spent the days since the fire asking why two people his entire world revolved around could have been taken from him.
"I now believe that through Bianka and John an angel came into the world and into our family. That angel was Jude," he said.
"Jude finished his job in less than 12 months and returned to God.
"His mother was a happy soul. Jude and Bianka were inseparable since his birth and even at death."
Bianka's husband, John O'Brien, who had left the apartment an hour before the blast to go to jis job at a local hospital, paid tribute to his wife and son "Judey bear".
"She never left him," he said.
"And there was no happier place for Jude, nothing he wanted more than to be with his mum."
"She was a lot of things to a lot of people ... She was everything to me," he said.
