Some 2500 homes and business in Katoomba, Warrimoo, Valley Heights, Lithgow and surrounding areas were left without power on Monday afternoon after hours of wild and windy weather.
A Blue Mountains State Emergency Service spokesman said they responded to 50 calls for assistance, mostly from the Lower Blue Mountains, as winds peaked at 120km/h.
Buses replaced trains between Katoomba and Mount Victoria due to a fallen tree at Medlow Bath. There were also train delays in the Lower Mountains due to a fallen tree branch near the overhead wiring between Blaxland and Glenbrook.
