The 11th annual Blue Mountains Cricket Association East/West Challenge was held at Gloria Park on December 20, with East taking out the honours this year.
Easts' opening batsman, John Ford, scored the first-ever century in the BMCA's showpiece event, a match-winning 111 with his side, which batted first, scoring 250 in their allotted 50 overs. Reece Boothroyd added a solid 45.
Wests' paceman James Heath, who is always ready for big match cricket, claimed 3/24 off 10 overs, and rattled a few batsmen with his usual speed and bounce. Debutant Lenny Redman also bowled well and beat the bat on a few occasions early in the innings.
However, the West run chase never got going, opener Chris Cox top scored with 39 in a disappointing effort by his side which was bowled out for 104, a 146-run win to Easts.
Chris Boothroyd grabbed 4/26 off seven overs but there was no challenge to the century-maker, John Ford, receiving the 'Beast of the East' man of the match award.
In overall East/West wins, East have now extended their lead by seven to four.
In the warm-up T20 match West batted first and were all out in the 20th and last over for 114.
Remy Marshall, who survived being bowled off a no-ball from Mick Emmanuel, top scored with 21 of 26 balls, which included several attractive cover drives.
Keegan Foote's brisk 15 off nine balls, at the end of the innings, was just what Wests' skipper Jack Wolffs asked for, and it gave West some hope of defending their total.
Easts' Cal Hunter was his usual competitive self when it came to bowling; his 3/8 off 4 overs (backed up by Owen Martyn 3/13 off 4 overs) put his side in a strong position at the change of innings.
With Easts' 2-76 in reply the game looked over, batsmen James Lawler (38 off 57) and Elijah Carlin (29 off 37) seemed to be cruising to victory.
At this stage the Wests' fielders, who had been quiet in the field up to this point, suddenly found some enthusiasm and pace bowler Keegan Foote's 5/11 off 4 overs brought his side home to a memorable win by 14 runs.
