World champion kayaker and canoeist Jessica Fox had an outstanding year in and out of the white water in 2014 and has begun the new year with similar success.
The 2011 Blaxland High School graduate and 2012 Olympic Games silver medallist made history last season by winning the women's C1 (single canoe) and K1 (single kayak) double at the 2014 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships and achieved the same feat at the 2014 U23 World Championships.
Fox, now 22 and living in Leonay, was also named the 2014 NSW Institute of Sport's female athlete of the year.
Her top form with paddle in hand continued last month at the 2015 Australian Slalom Championships where she held off a late charge by Penrith's Rosalyn Lawrence and her own sister, Noemie, to claim K1 gold.
She also won gold in the U23 K1 and U23 C1 events.
To top it off, Fox was named 2015 Local Woman of the Year for Penrith on January 28 and was presented the award by NSW Minister for Women, Pru Goward and Penrith MP and Minister for Sport and Recreation, Stuart Ayres.
Mr Ayres said "Jessica has represented Penrith with great distinction and beyond her on-water performances she continues to be a role model for young women across Western Sydney," Mr Ayres said.
More award winners in different electorates will soon be announced and invited to join their local MP at the 2015 NSW Women of the Year award ceremony at Parliament House in March.
