The Penrith Panthers split their road trip against the Hornsby Spiders on Saturday night at the Sydney University Sports and Aquatic Centre, in round eight of the 2015 Waratah Championship League (WCL) competition.
The Panthers women won comfortably 62-44 in the opening game of the night, before the Panthers men fell 97-92.
Penrith were favourites to win the women's game and enjoyed a small but handy lead throughout, before triumphing by an 18-point margin.
Australian representative Tahlia Tupaea led the Panthers with 22 points, 7 boards and 5 assists, ahead of Alicia Poto 12 points, 10 boards, 5 assists; Danielle Schwarzer 7 points, 9 boards and Dominika Offner (Springwood) with 7 points, 3 boards.
The Penrith men trailed 17-10 in the first quarter, before rallying to lead 39-36 at the half-time break.
Svetomir Gavrilovic led the Panthers at the break with 11 points, ahead of Jarrod Sorenson (Springwood) with 8.
Hornsby took control once again in the third term to lead 68-65 at the end of the third term and would ultimately hold on for a 7-point win.
Ben Kearins led the Panthers with 26 points, ahead of Gavrilovic 19, Sorenson 16, Madol Chol 11 and Louis Brandt (Springwood) 8 points, 10 boards.
The Panthers return to the Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre this Saturday, hosting the Newcastle Hunters at 4pm (women) and 6pm (men).
Penrith WCL representative Nic Pozoglou has been announced in an extended 25-man squad for the Australian Under 19 Men's team (Emus), which is in preparation for the upcoming 2015 FIBA Under 19 World Championships.
Pozoglou will enter camp from May 25-28, with the final team chosen at the end of that weekend.
The World Championships will be held in Crete, Greece - starting June 27 - and it will be the third time Greece has hosted the championships since 1995.
Australia has been in drawn in Pool C, alongside Italy, Canada and Tunisia.
