The Blackheath Blackcats have continued their winning way with a 10 try to 1 victory over last year's premiers, the Bathurst CSU Yellow team.
The Cats started with some big defence, determined to dictate the game from the start and they did. Greg Alderson scored the first try, followed soon after by one to hard-working second rower Steve Easter. The Yellow team hit back with a converted try but this would be the only time the score board attendant would alter the numbers on the Yellow side of the board. Further tries went to Greg Nankervis and Adam Fuller to leave the halftime score 20-6.
In the second half, tries were scored by Nankervis, two to Brock Tarrant, a solo 70-metre effort by Matt Ranse, and singles to Ryan Jervis and Aaron Kelson. The final score was 52-6. Players player went to Greg Nankervis. Best and fairest 3 Greg Nankervis 2, Greg Alderson, 1 Ryan Jervis. Coach award Tim Alderson. Referee's points 3 Greg Alderson, 2 Yellow No13, 1 Matt Ranse.
