Taking art to the street
Katoomba Street has become an outdoor exhibition area, the light poles fluttering with banners showing portraits of local creative artists.
Head in the Clouds, curated by Katoomba photographer Ann Niddrie, features 20 photographic portraits taken by five photographers: Peter Adams, Alex Benetel, Ona Janzen, Mandy Shoene-Salter and Niddrie.
The works show local artists including Mathew Lynn, Scott Marr, Robert Malherbe and Jacqueline Spedding.
Prints of the portraits, plus some extras, have also been installed in a pop-up gallery in the foyer of the Cultural Centre to give people a close-up view of the works.
Ms Niddrie said she had a vision for showcasing the depth of talent in the Mountains.
"I wanted to show that the Blue Mountains is full of more than just handicrafts and to bring life and colour back into Katoomba," she said.
The exhibition has been accepted as an associated exhibition of the Head On Festival, Australia's leading photographic festival.
Head in the Clouds will run until June 3.
