Well of course he got on a bull, what else would you do when you've got Keith Urban as your co-host?
The man all local media are contractually obligated to call "Australian country music superstar", and whose name certain magazines must always attach to that of Australian film star – and wife – Nicole Kidman, was the hairier, less goofy and sharper dressed replacement for David Koch on 7's Sunrise program on Monday.
Urban, ever amiable, climaxed his appearance on the breakfast TV program with a – gentle – ride on a bull. A mechanical bull rather than the show's money giveaway, adult-size fluffy mascot, the Cash Cow.
To the relief of insurers and management, while Urban did fall off eventually it was onto a cushioned surface and with no more damage than perhaps a slight smudge to his dignity after he declared "I've got the wrong pants on" as he was bounced around while in typically snug fitting jeans.
That was about as tough as it got for Urban who coped with a "grilling" from viewers that included asking him if he, Kidman and their children would live permanently in Australia (the family considers themselves at home in a number of places he said, so probably not); what he'd be doing if he wasn't a performer ("in jail," he joshed); and when he'll next tour here (in 2016 most likely).
Viewers who were forced to watch a clip of Urban being the diplomat in a high stakes, low rent battle between fellow American Idol judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey, were rewarded with snippets of a soft porn filmclip for Urban's new single and the revelation that the eldest Kidman/Urban daughter, Sunday Rose, might have a singing career ahead of her too. Possibly not til after she finishes primary school though.
What did Urban get from it? Well he now knows that a gluten-free diet "the growing diet trend followed by celebrities around the world" as he was told by his co-host Samantha Armytage, is not necessarily any healthier for you unless you are gluten-intolerant. Which is nice.
