After two much more positive displays, including a last start win, Blue Mountains Rugby Union Club's first grade side was unable to keep up the standard and slumped back into playing some pretty ordinary football. They went down 40-19 to Hills in what can only be described as a very disappointing display.
The opposition were not much better than the Blueys, but played more positive rugby. Out of the gloom however there was some positives. The effort put in by Steve Lenuci once again was sensational, and this match also saw three outstanding Colts, Jaiden Cranfield, Cody Hemmings and Jordan Healey, make their top grade debuts, stamping a heap of class as well as youth on proceedings.
Last week they drew with second-placed Lindfield in a game they should have won, but this time around third-placed Hills were not as lucky, as the Blueys reserve team continued their late season surge with a spirited 24-20 win, with Roy Tuisivi and Danniel Farrugia in great form.
Colts had a surprise two-point loss to stumble to third despite a massive match from Zac Green, and Lachlan Macauley's white hot form continued as thirds stayed on top of the table with a 22-19 win after leading 22-7 at the break.
Fourths prospects of breaking their season duck was thwarted for another week going down 17-3, in a game of football dominated by Jake Green who put in another whole-hearted display riddled with brilliance.
Mountains have their last away game against Barker Old Boys on Saturday, the following week finishing the competition proper with the annual back to Lapstone Day.
