Thieves have stolen paintings, a stamp collection and other collectibles worth more than a quarter of a million dollars from a house in Sydney's south-west.
The home on Melbourne Road, St Johns Park, was broken into between 8am and 1.45pm on Wednesday.
Among the items taken were the stamp collection valued at $150,000, two oil paintings valued at $32,000, a coin collection valued at $20,000, antiques and jewellery.
One of the paintings, from Spain, titled Madonna With Blue Veil Clasped Hands, measures 75cm x 58cm in a carved scrollwork frame.
The other, from South America, Archangel, St Gabriel, measures 50cm x 33cm.
On Thursday, police appealed to galleries and private collectors to be on the lookout.
"These distinctive [paintings], depicting religious icons, were hung in rooms within the property," Fairfield Local Area Command crime manager, Detective Inspector Ed Walsh said.
"Three albums - one containing a coin collection and two containing a stamp collection - were also taken from the premises, along with three laptops and jewellery.
"We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed suspicious behaviour in the vicinity of Melbourne Road yesterday, as well as anyone with information on any of these collectable pieces for sale," he said.
"I understand that these pieces are all quite unique and should attract attention if being sold through galleries or to private collectors."
