A review of council’s new waste management scheme will be conducted.
Previously, residents with a small landfill bin received a discount, but with the introduction of the new bin scheme, which includes a green bin for garden waste, all discounts have been removed.
Everyone now has a small landfill bin, and pay an extra fee if they choose to use a larger landfill bin.
At the Blue Mountains City Council meeting on Tuesday, councillors agreed to receive a report on further possible measures to ameliorate the impact of the removal of the subsidy.
The report will look at why the promised reduction in the domestic charges has not occurred; possible cost savings from allowing people to opt out of the green bins scheme; and possible measures to ameliorate the impact of increased costs on families who require 240 litre bins.
