Blaxland day care educator Claire Cable has been named a regional winner in the 2016 Excellence in Family Day Care Awards.
The 29-year-old moved into family day care more than four years ago, after working as a teacher’s aide.
“Working with children is a passion of mine,” she said.
Mrs Cable provides care from her Familia Day Care business at her home in Blaxland for children aged six weeks to six years.
“I get to see them develop. It’s five years before we’re saying goodbye and often I’ll see their siblings – it’s a lot more of a community,” she said.
Family Day Care Australian chief executive officer Andrew Paterson said he had been overwhelmed by the heartfelt stories from families across the country about the important role family day care plays in their lives.
“Educators like Claire hold a special place in the hearts of the families who nominated them,” he said.
“To be named a regional winner is recognition of Claire’s dedication to providing quality early childhood education, but also to the wonderful and unique relation between educators like Claire and the children in their care.”
Mrs Cable now goes in the running to be named NSW winner, which will be announced in November.
