Glenbrook Public School year 2 student Bella Rutter has won a gold award in a state writing competition.
WriteOn, is for NSW students in years 1 to 6, and aims to encourage the development of creative writing skills.
Students wrote a short piece about a black and white photograph of children walking along a brick wall outside an old timber and joinery factory.
The competition is conducted by the NSW Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards, and this year almost 400 entries were received.
Bella was presented her award by the Department of Education at a function held at the NSW State Library last week.
The Write On anthology, containing the winning entries, including Bella’s Mystery in the Forest, will be published early in 2017.
Glenbrook students have been involved in the competition for the past three years, and last year Ryan Lunney received bronze for his writing.
