More than 50 professional golfers, including legends Mike Harwood and Roger Davis, will test their skills at Blackheath on Sunday, October 16 when they compete in the Blackheath E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour.
The event is for professional golfers aged 50 and over.
Blackheath is one of only two 18-hole courses higher than 1000 metres in Australia (the other is Oberon). The bump-and-run of golf at altitude should suit Harwood and Davis. Both were both British Open runners-up, and Davis was in the world’s top 10 for 29 weeks. Blackheath pro, Dave Snelling, organised the event and is also a chance.
Professionals will be playing for a prize purse of $11,000 and will be joined by local amateurs in a team event format comprising of two shot gun tee starts.
Morning and afternoon shotgun starts will accommodate the packed field, with organisers are thrilled with the response so far.
Major sponsor is ICF Haulage of Lithgow.
Spectators are encouraged to grab the free opportunity of watching these golfing masters in action, to marvel at the beauty of an alpine course in spring, and to visit the refurbished community clubhouse.
Following the event there will be presentations and speakers.
Blackheath Golf and Community Club is located at Brightlands Avenue, Blackheath.
