Eleven pupils from primary schools in the Lower Mountains were recognised as leaders of tomorrow in an awards ceremony at Emu Plains Sports Club this month.
Hosted by Lower Blue Mountains Rotary, the schools were invited to nominate students who display leadership traits in keeping with Rotary’s “service above self” motto.
Lower Blue Rotary’s Youth Service Director Glenn Anslow pulled the program together and the evening provided real inspiration to the 120 Rotarians, partners, parents and school teachers present.
Teachers from the various schools read citations on each child’s outstanding qualities and service – and Rotary President Pamela Noal presented framed recognition certificates.
Young leaders recognised during the evening included:
- Milly Boot of Leonay Public School
- Ellie Barter of Glenbrook Public School
- Freya Carveth of Blaxland Public School
- Natasha Watson of Blaxland East Public School
- Sara Nalos of Mt Riverview Public School
- Lachlan Anderson of Emu Heights Public School
- Shianne Crampton of Emu Plains Public School
- Arran Jafari of Lapstone Public School
