A 76-year-old man has been charged with murder after an alleged domestic dispute at Umina Beach on the Central Coast.
Ben Ivanoff is accused of stabbing his wife of 55 years, Leonie, with a fruit knife.
Emergency services were called to the home in Nowack Avenue around 3pm where the 74-year-old grandmother was found dead at the scene.
Police arrested Mr Ivanoff and took him to Gosford police station, before he appeared briefly before Gosford Local court on Monday.
He was refused bail after the magistrate said he was at "risk of further offending". The ABC reports that police alleged the couple's relationship had hit a few bumps in recent years with "delusional thoughts" leading Mr Ivanoff to believe his wife was having an affair.
Mr Ivanoff allegedly told detectives that he was infuriated and "only wanted to scare" her, but he "just snapped" when his wife laughed off his accusations of an affair once more.
The accused has previously been treated for several medical conditions such as dementia, depression, macular degeneration and heart problems.
The case has been adjourned to return to court on March 3.
