Four years ago, Katoomba couple Adam Cousins and Kirsten Mulholland changed their lives by becoming cinema owners. They took over Mt Vic Flicks from Ron and Diane Bayley, who had run it for 26 years.
On Sunday, June 25, the owners – both previous and current celebrated Mt Vic Flicks’ 30th birthday. The new owners have made a number of major improvements to the old cinema, including new digital equipment, amplifier and speakers to give a bigger, better and louder picture. A new screen which they had installed 18 months ago also allows them to screen 3D movies.
The 30th celebration was marked with a screening of one of the very first films shown at the quaint Mountains venue – the Australian classic, Malcolm, starring Colin Friels, John Hargreaves, Lindy Davies and Chris Haywood.
Wendy Hambly entertained on the organ, as guests enjoyed high tea and a glass of bubbly.
