Winter has arrived for the students of Nepean Creative and Performing Arts High School in the form of an a cappella version of the Game of Thrones theme tune.
The dramatic rendition is just one of the many highlights in the school’s mid-year showcase which has a “Four Seasons” theme this year.
The first performance was held last night (July 25) with evening performances continuing on July 27, 28 and 29 at 7pm and a matinee on July 29 at 1pm.
While the Westeros refrain has winter covered, others season are represented by performances including In Summer from Frozen and Another Day of Sun from the Oscar-winning film La La Land (spring).
Year 11 student Lemuel Appel, from Hazelbrook, is involved in all fours seasons, saying performing the catchy comic song from the Disney hit Frozen is “tons of fun”.
The Four Seasons is a collaborative showcase involving ensembles and students from Years 7 to 12.
Audiences will enjoy an expedition through circus, dance, drama and music to experience the earth's annual journey with the changing environments that come together to make up the four seasons.
Year 10 student Molly Bugeja, of Leonay, said the showcase has something to please all audiences.
“It’s got a good balance of fun and happy stuff but we also do drama pieces where we focus on political issues like euthanasia,” she said.
Year 7 student Josie Woods is a member of the school’s signing choir which is involved in two musical numbers. “It’s so much fun. It’s a good experience just to meet everyone as well,” she said.
The showcase is held at Nepean Arts Centre at Nepean Creative and Performing Arts High School, 115-119 Great Western Highway, Emu Plains. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased via https://www.trybooking.com/QRWC.
