Motorists will face changed traffic conditions on the M4 motorway at South Penrith as well as temporary closures of The Northern Road entry and exit ramps at the M4 motorway.
The changes will take effect from Friday, September 8 to build a new bridge.
The work and closures will allow the installation temporary barriers, building of temporary access roads, earthwork, clearing of vegetation and installation of signs and line marking.
Work will be carried out between 7pm and 8am from Friday, September 8 to Sunday, December 3, weather permitting.
As part of this work, the M4 entry and exit ramps at The Northern Road will be closed between 10pm and 8am on the below dates:
- Friday and Saturday, September 8-9 the eastbound on-ramp to the M4 motorway and the westbound off-ramp to The Northern Road will be closed. Motorists will be detoured via Kent Road, Gipps Street, the Great Western Highway and Parker Street.
- Friday and Saturday, September 15-16 the eastbound off-ramp to The Northern Road and the westbound on-ramp to the M4 motorway, motorists will be detoured via Parker Street, Jane and North Street and Mulgoa Road.
- Friday and Saturday, September 29-30 the eastbound on-ramp to the M4 motorway and the westbound off-ramp to The Northern Road will be closed. Motorists will be detoured via Kent Road, Gipps Street, the Great Western Highway and Parker Street.
For the safety of workers and motorists, a reduced speed limit of 80 km/hour will be in place on the M4 motorway between Kent Road, Claremont Meadows and Mulgoa Road at Jamisontown until the project is complete in 2020.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
