A senior outlaw motorcycle gang member who worked as a gym manager has been charged after allegedly using the personal details of clients to create fraudulent mobile phone accounts.
Daniel Sarkis, a senior member of the Mongols motorcycle gang, will face Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday over allegations he misused the personal details of clients at Dee Why Anytime Fitness.
Listed as the club manager on the gym facility's Facebook page, the 30-year-old says he "love[s] coming to work everyday," and holds a Master Trainer Certificate IV in fitness, Certificate III in fitness, first aid and CPR.
"I love getting to know my members and having banter with them on the gym floor. I'm here to listen to any feedback, queries or concerns you may have to ensure your experience at Anytime Fitness Dee Why is the best it can be," his profile reads.
According to police, Mr Sarkis was arrested following an investigation by the State Crime Command Gangs Squad Strike Force Raptor.
Officers executed a search warrant at a residential unit in Dee Why Parade, Dee Why, on Monday, where they seized mobile phones, SIM cards, electronic storage devices, steel handcuffs, an extendable and Mongols OMCG colours and patches.
Valium and clenbuterol were also seized at the Northern Beaches property.
Banned for human use in Australia, clenbuterol is commonly used to strip fat and enhance a muscular look.
Historically it has been abused by athletes, for its ability to improve aerobic capacity, increase alertness and stimulation and transport oxygen around the body more efficiently.
On Tuesday Mr Sarkis was taken to Manly Police Station and "charged with seven counts of dishonestly obtain property by deception, two counts of possess prescribed restricted substance, and two counts of possess prohibited weapon," police said.
He has been granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday.
