Fire fighters called out to Mitchells Pass fires on February 15 | Photos

4.28pm:

Fire crews have worked together to contain and extinguish numerous blazes at Mitchells Pass on Thursday afternoon.

NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS), and Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) personnel worked together to put the fires.

The crews were assisted by water bombing helicopters.

The first blaze begin at about 1.30pm alongside Mitchells Pass Road, between Blaxland and Emu Plains.

The fire was contained about two hours later.

Mitchells Pass was closed to traffic during the operation.

3.59pm:

Fire fighters have started to take control of the blazes in Mitchells Pass on Thursday afternoon.

NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS), and Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews have worked together to put the blazes.

Numerous crews from both organisations remain on scene.

3.10pm:

Fire conditions have started to ease in Mitchells Pass on Thursday afternoon.

Fire fighters were called out to several blazes burning in the area at about 1pm.

NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) personnel are at the scene, as well as Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews.

On Twitter, the NSW RFS wrote the threat of fire had been downgraded to “Advice”.

Earlier in the afternoon, residents had been warned to “Watch and Act”.

2.51pm:

The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) has confirmed the fires at Mitchells Pass don’t pose an immediate threat to homes or schools in the area.

Numerous spot fires are burning in the Mitchells Pass area on Thursday afternoon.

NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) personnel are at the scene, as well as Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews.

Fire fighters will continue to monitor the fires’ conditions.

Crews and an aircraft are working to slow the spread of the fire.

2.25pm:

Residents in the Mitchells Pass area have been warned to “watch and act” as numerous spot fires burn on Thursday afternoon.

NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) personnel are at the scene, as well as Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews.

The NSW RFS stated on Twitter that a water bombing aircraft was working to slow the spread of the fire.

1.52pm:

Fire fighters have responded to calls of numerous spot fires at Mitchells Pass on Thursday afternoon.

Several crews were called out following reports of smoke over surrounding areas, including Glenbrook.

NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) personnel are at the scene, as well as Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews.

The NSW RFS website has listed the fires as “out of control”.

On Twitter, FRNSW wrote that several spot fires were burning at Mitchells Pass.

FRNSW also wrote that additional resources – including air support – were being arranged.
