Motorists are advised the Sutton Park rest area, south of Blackheath, will be closed from Monday 25 March as part of the Great Western Highway upgrade between Katoomba and Lithgow.
The rest area on the Great Western Highway will be closed for up to two weeks to allow work to be carried out to provide new access to the rest area.
Work will involve excavating the road, footpath and road reserve and building the new road surface leading to the highway which will provide new access
Rest areas will still be open at Neate Park at Blackheath for westbound traffic and Bulls Camp at Woodford for eastbound traffic.
Electronic signs will be in place along the Great Western Highway to notify motorists of the closure.
For the safety of motorists and workers, traffic control will be in place. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.
