A 21-year-old man from St Mary's was rescued at Lincolns Rock on Sunday, September 20, after he lost his footing and fell from a ledge.
Blue Mountains Police Detective Chief Inspector Scott McAlpine said the man had been climbing on rocks to access a cave when he slipped.
Blue Mountains Police Rescue officers and paramedics were called to the scene at Wentworth Falls at about 2pm. They abseiled down to the man and transferred him to a helicopter at 5pm, where he was flown to hospital with suspected head and chest injuries, broken legs and a broken arm.
Truck crash
A truck that crashed at 6.30am on the highway near Explorers Road at Katoomba on September 15 caused all-day traffic delays while the truck recovery took place.
The truck over-turned, Det Chief Insp McAlpine saying the cause of the collision appeared to be driver error. Police are awaiting the results of a mandatory blood test.
The driver, from Mt Druitt, sustained minor injuries.
Katoomba brawl
About 11pm on September 4, two men from Katoomba, aged 27 and 18, were drinking at a licensed premises on Parke Street in Katoomba.
As the business was closing, the men allegedly approached a 42-year-old man from Katoomba and were confrontational, the two men believing the victim was responsible for causing them prior offence, but the victim had not seen them before, Det Chief Insp McAlpine said.
"The men walked outside and waited for the victim. After the victim walked outside the premises he was tackled to the ground by the 18 year old and a wrestle ensued. The victim was able to stand up, after which the 27 year old has grabbed the victim in a headlock," Det Chief Insp McAlpine said.
Police were driving past and intervened. They allegedly found what is suspected to be 20 MDMA capsules in the 18 year old's possession. Both men were charged with several offences and were to appear at Katoomba Local Court on September 21.
Ruckus at Blaxland
At 1.30am on September 12, police responded to reports of an altercation in Blaxland. When speaking to a 19-year-old man from Toongabbie, who matched the description of one of those involved, he tried to run away. A scuffle ensued, and the man attempted to hit the officers, Det Chief Insp McAlpine said.
Police found what is suspected to be cannabis and methamphetamines on the man. He was charged with a number of offences including assaulting police, resisting arrest and possessing a prohibited drug. He appears before Penrith Local Court on October 6.
