The Henry in Lawson is once again gearing up to celebrate Anzac Day and Chief Financial Officer Angus Horden said they were looking forward to seeing everyone come together on the day.. "Anzac Day is an important day for all Australians and New Zealanders to come together as a community and remember the sacrifices made by our forebears.
"It's a day we reflect on those brave souls who fought in Gallipoli and the 8000 that didn't return home and it's evolved into a day we reflect on all Australians who have served our nation," he said. "It's a day Australians are reminded of the Anzac legend, one of endurance, courage, ingenuity, good humour, and mateship, and we pay tribute to this legend by raising a glass with our mates."
The doors will open following the dawn service for a Gun Barrel Breakfast running from 6.00am to 8.00am, and will be hosted by the dedicated team from the Hazelbrook Rural Fire Brigade.
There will be plenty of fun throughout the day with people able to get in the spirit with the rousing sounds of the Blue Mountains Pipe Band, watch some live footy, play a few games of two-up, and be entertained by a DJ.The day will be family friendly including face painting and games on the bistro deck, and Angus said the Pipe Band should not be missed. "They have been a regular fixture on Anzac Day for many years, they are all passionate Blue Mountain locals who take great pride in performing every Anzac Day," he said. "They perform a range of songs and will lead the crowd from the memorial service to The Henry before playing on and off through out the day."
