The 23rd annual billy cart derby brought its fair share of thrills and spills as the largest ever roll-up of competitors raced down the steep track.
Woodhill State School student Jack Watson, 8, was named "King of the Hill" after winning his age group and then besting the winners of all other age groups in a final showdown.
Jack helped his father Adam Watson to build the winning billy cart, which was inspired by his grandfather's Volkswagen kombi van.
Adam said the kombi was his third and most successful billy cart to date, but he aimed to build another from scratch before the next billy cart derby.
Jack was thrilled with his win and said the trick was to look straight ahead and "don't try doing a flip".
There were several spectacular spills on the day but no serious injuries, with Rural Fire Service and St Johns Ambulance volunteers fast on the scene of any accidents.
Woodhill State School principal Shelly Lucas thanked all the volunteers for a fantastic day.
The money raised at the billy cart derby will be used to improve school facilities.
