Blaxland resident David Tucker works at the office of state revenue and will also perform at the family Christmas concert Festive Favourites, showing at Riverside Theatres in Parramatta on December 7.
The concert features the 30-piece City of Holroyd Brass Band, as well as talented singers from recent hit musical productions Beauty and the Beast, Annie and Hairspray. The concert includes traditional carols such as O Holy Night and Away In A Manger, contemporary favourites such as All I Want For Christmas and Jingle Bell Rock, as well as a few surprises.
Tucker will perform a Michael Buble-style medley of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Winter Wonderland and All I Want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth.
He's already found himself humming these and other Christmas jingles he hears in the supermarket.
"I'm looking forward to Christmas," he said. "It's the most wonderful time of year."
The 38-year-old has been singing and acting since he was 11 years old.
The very first musical he performed in was the Blue Mountains Musical Society's The Music Man, and Tucker was awarded the minor principal role.
He's never looked back, working his way through school musicals to countless productions, even directing Packemin Productions' version of Les Miserables.
He enjoys being with the fun-loving people who are drawn to the stage.
"They're just fun people, and we enjoy bringing joy to people's lives," he said.
"I've always enjoyed being on stage - it's not me up there. All the storytelling and singing, to share it with other people - I love it."
Tucker was also invited to join the Three Irish Tenors for a five-year stint. He knew one of the trio, Patrick Fisher, through musicals, who brought the other member of the trio, Brendan Locke, along to see Tucker as the lead in the Chatswood Musical Society's Pirates of Penzance.
"He [Fisher] called me and said 'you've got the voice, you've got the look [red hair] and you can sing high enough,'" Tucker recalled.
The Festive Favourites concert commences at 3pm on December 7.
