Jessica Fox was named female athlete of the year at the 2014 NSW Institute of Sport Awards, held at the Australian Turf Club on November 20.
It's been a history-making year for the Blaxland High School graduate and 2012 Olympian, who now lives in Leonay.
Fox won the women's C1 and K1 gold medals at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships, becoming the first female paddler to triumph in both disciplines at the same senior world championships.
She achieved the same feat at the U23 world championships held at Penrith Whitewater Stadium earlier in the year.
Fox said she was humbled to be acknowledged by the NSWIS and paid tribute to the fantastic team behind her.
"I'd like to say thank you for this award and recognition, it's a real honour," Fox said from a training camp in Europe.
"This year has been fantastic and to achieve the double world championship title was a dream come true. I've been really fortunate to have an amazing support network here at the NSWIS with my coaches and teammates who make training so much fun every day," she said.
"Congratulations to all the other finalists and award winners."
Australian wheelchair rugby player Ryley Batt, from Port Macquarie, was named NSW male athlete of the year, regional athlete of the year and team athlete of the year.
NSWIS CEO Charles Turner said Fox and Batt thoroughly deserved their accolades.
"What Ryley and Jessica have achieved in 2014 is nothing short of sensational and the reward for many months of hard work and sacrifice here at the NSWIS," he said.
