Last week they found themselves showered with ARIA nominations for their latest acclaimed albums.
Luke Dubber and Angus Stuart dominated the ARIA nominations as Hermitude alongside Melbourne singer-songwriters Courtney Barnett and Vance Joy. The electronic duo from the Upper Mountains garnered seven nominations with their album Dark Night Sweet Light including Album Of The Year, Best Group, Best Independent Release as well as the publicly voted categories for Best Australian Live Act and Best Video for Through The Roof.
Better known as one-third of the top-selling Australian hip hop group Thundamentals, Brendan Tuckerman (aka Tuka) was also nominated for Best Urban Album for his solo project, Life Death Time Eternal. The former Medlow Bath resident didn't have much time to bask in the glow, however, catching a flight to the United States the following day for tour dates in Los Angeles and New York.
Dubber (aka Luke Dubs) and Stuart (aka El Gusto) took to Facebook to express their gratitude for Hermitude's ARIA nominations.
"Feeling blessed right now! Seven Aria nominations. Thanks to all of you guys for supporting us through this crazy journey. BIG LUV to all the amazing artists who have been nominated too, so much talent in this country," they posted.
The pair have collaborated in bands since 1994 but it was their fifth album, Dark Night Sweet Light, that won them a legion of new fans after debuting at number 1 on the ARIA album chart this May. They followed this success by embarking on their biggest Australian shows as well as touring the United States including playing at major festivals like Lollapalooza.
The ARIA winners will be announced at an awards show on November 26.
