Katoomba and its surrounds has officially switched on to the national broadband network from May 19.
More than 3000 Katoomba homes and businesses will be able to connect to Australia’s NBN network. Premises in southern Katoomba will be the first to be switched on with the area bordered by Frank Walford and Kingsford Smith Parks in the north, Leura Park to the east, and follows Cliff Drive to the south and west.
Construction is currently underway in the neighbouring areas of northern Katoomba, Leura, Wentworth Falls, Medlow Bath, Bullaburra and Lawson. This will mean an additional 12,700 homes and business will be progressively able to connect from June to August.
The switch to the NBN is not automatic so it’s important people check the NBN website to see if they are eligible. They can also register to be notified when it is. They’ll then need to call an internet service provider to discuss their needs, agree on a speed package and arrange to be switched on.
