In the early hours of Thursday, his partner Renai Kneebone's waters broke, forcing the first-time father to deliver the baby by himself in the bathroom of their Kooringal home.
Mr Hobson said he was still in shock over the delivery.
“Before we have even had the chance to get ready and get out the door the waters have broken and I’m on the phone to an ambulance,” Mr Hobson said.
“Next thing I know I’m holding my little girl in my hands, it was crazy.”
The surprise delivery was a real family effort, with Ms Kneebone’s eldest daughter Bailee, 7, also coming to the rescue.
“Melody my two-year-old, she was pretty upset, because she could hear me,” she said.
“Bailee did a great job taking care of her and looking after her during the birth.”
But Ms Kneebone said the home delivery without medical staff was “terrifying”.
“During the whole process it was so scary,” she said. “But Zac was just so great, he kept such a level head.”
Mr Hobson said the irony of the home delivery hasn’t been lost on his workmates at Langfield Transport.
“The first thing work asked me was if I had to go sign a proof of delivery in case anything went wrong,” he said.
