Ponton and Davies
Glenbrook runner Marnie Ponton, 32, was the fourth woman in Sunday’s City2Surf. She completed the 14km race in 49 minutes 56 seconds, Queenslander Cassie Fien taking the honours in 47:21. Harry Summers from Randwick won the race in 41:54.
Ponton was sixth in the City2Surf in 2008, and only returned to running a few months ago after taking a break to start a family. Trained by Brendan Davies, Ponton was pleased with her result. “I stuck to my pace and tried to hang on and it was over in no time.”
