It opens on Friday November 11 and ends on Sunday November 13 [see www.bluemountainsartfest.net.au].
The event supports and raises money used for much needed educational resources, for Wentworth Falls Public School.
Featured artist this year is the brilliant Michael Rossiter. Rossiter is a neo-surrealist painter from Leura. His colourful and whimsical artworks are finely detailed to take you into another world.
During the weekend there will be ample opportunity to purchase quality artworks and handicrafts at affordable prices – just in time for Christmas.
There will also be exciting activities for everyone including inspiring workshops, a wearable art parade, kids’ craft area, face painting, jumping castle, live music and dancing, a delicious BBQ and vegetarian delights, an eye-popping cake stall and a café on site.
In celebration of Artfest, the school children have collaborated to create four amazing artworks that will be available for silent auction over the weekend. They will be showcased in the main exhibition area, where bidding also takes place. Blue Mountains Artfest also showcases artworks of local primary school students from across the Blue Mountains in their own separate gallery for Kids’ Artfest.
Adults are welcome at the opening night held on Friday November 11 at 7.30pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. There will be a chance to mingle with the artists while enjoying canapés and a drink. You will also get first dibs on the art and craft.
Adults can also book in for a Permission-to- Play art workshop with Tina Frost-Clayton that will be held at 6:15pm before the opening. See the website for details and forms.
Why not enter into the nature weaving, cartooning or paperclay workshops held over the Saturday and Sunday? There are limited vacancies and bookings are essential. These workshops cater for ages six and over.
Blue Mountains Artfest can only happen with the generosity of local business sponsors and supporters, especially major sponsors Bendigo Bank, Belle Property Leura, and Wentworth Falls Animal Hospital.
The event is held at Wentworth Falls Public School on Falls Road on Saturday November 12 from 9am-5pm and Sunday 10am-4pm for a gold coin entry fee.
